2011 Season - Week 7
A Bad Fortnight
For consecutive weeks we’ve proved why Trading Day 1 is so needed as collectively we have stunk. In week 6 we totaled just 302 points (an average of 18.9 points per owner). That’s the 22nd worst average in the 278 regular season weeks the BUMS has been existence. But it got even worse this week as we mustered just 295 points or an 17th worst average of just 18.44 points per owner.
Positioning for Picks
Arriving at Trading Day 1 we traditionally jostle for position, a bad week can mean an earlier pick and a better chance of getting that un-drafted superstar. As we know Johnnie is the king of this (his entire Papas Fritas winning squad last year was made of Trading day pickups) so it was surprising to see him score 46 points this week and drop from picking 6th (after 6 weeks) to now selecting 14th. Wayne went to the other extreme and dropped from a week 6 picking position of 14th to now selecting 12th by scoring no points at all this week, well his QB and Kicker were on a bye and his Franchise RB is on IR. It is Wayne’s third visit to the Hall of Shame (2007 and 2005) and the first for any owner in a year.
Trading Day 1
So we are now just days away from Trading Day 1 this Sunday starting at 3pm. If you want to trade but can’t get to HQ you can do so by email or phone. If I don’t hear from you I’ll assume you are happy with your team. Attached are the initial player salaries plus the sheet of new players who are also now available. As always we cut in worst to first order (all cuts by an owner in one go) then draft one player at a time in worst to first owner order until all rosters are full. The full order is Aaron, John, George, David S, Marcus, Dave G, Andy H, Ron, AP, Mark, Daz, Wayne, Cheryl/Johnnie, Craig and Chief. Remember if you cut a franchise player you have to pay him his salary until the end of the contract, so Aza will pay Peyton $3m for 2011 & work with a $7m budget.
BUMS Players Hall of Fame
A final remind that all votes are required by 3pm on Trading Day. If you cannot make HQ on Sunday please email through your favourite five players (in order).
